Moving house : how do you continue to receive your mail ? When you move, there are a number of things to do, starting with transferring your mail. Notify the various organizations or opt for automatic forwarding… How can you continue to receive your mail and parcels at your new address?
Notify the various organizations
After your move, if you want to continue receiving your mail at your new address, you’ll need to notify your various organizations, starting with your “Caisse d’assurance maladie” (CPAM), your mutual health insurance company, your insurers, your bank and your energy suppliers (water, gas and electricity). Don’t forget to notify your Internet service provider so that they can transfer your line and send your bills to your new address. And don’t forget to notify your local tax office: you can change your address online. If you subscribe to a newspaper, remember to notify them of your change of address. The same goes for any other organization from which you receive mail, such as your mobile operator or pay-TV package.
La Poste can forward your mail automatically
When you move house, you can take the easy option of having your mail forwarded to your new address using one of La Poste’s mail forwarding services. The standard offer includes forwarding of all your mail and parcels for 6 months or 1 year. You can also choose the Pack Déménagement, which, in addition to mail forwarding, includes 10 stamps to print and 4 online letters to notify your contacts of your change of address. This offer also gives you access to a digital safe. To subscribe to one of these services, you can visit a post office or apply online via the La Poste website.
How much does it cost ?
The various mail forwarding services offered by La Poste are not free and the cost varies from one offer to another. The price of the standard forwarding service ranges from €33.50 for 6 months’ forwarding to €57 for 1 year. For the complete package, called Pack Déménagement, you’ll need to pay €46 for 6 months and €69.50 for 1 year. Finally, if you’re moving to another country, international mail forwarding costs €90 for 6 months and €160 for 1 year. However, La Poste sometimes offers special deals on its mail forwarding services.
