Military moves overseas
Whether by order or voluntary request, a military move to the French overseas departments and territories (DROM-COM) requires specific organization for the soldier and his family. The PFMD Muter Loger, the official platform of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, can help you with its expertise. Here’s what you need to know:
Overseas military moves : the main transfer zones
You’ll find three main transfer zones in Overseas France:
- The Indian Ocean, with Mayotte and La Réunion
- Caribbean, with the Antilles, Martinique and Guadeloupe, then French Guiana
- The Pacific, with New Caledonia and French Polynesia
PFMD Muter Loger can assist you in all these areas and in all the DROM-COM.
Moving overseas : what you need to know to prepare for your transfer
Before your departure and during the transit phase to your new posting, you should keep in touch with your administrative manager, as well as with your referent in the departing Army Medical Corps. They are the only people who can advise you on all the particularities of your new assignment. Relief is organized on a territory-by-territory basis. Overseas joint commanders will inform you of the arrangements made. Finally, you should be aware that your spouse can benefit from support from Défense mobilité whenever you are transferred, and as soon as you are informed of your new posting.
